WE DO COOL STUFF

Generally there are several things people go for when installing fire sprinkler systems. They don’t have to be utilitarian although that is one of the things people look for. These heads ended up in the beams, which go a long ways at reducing the number of heads used on a job. Although things can be color matched, these were meant to provide an accent color on a mono-colored ceiling.

The finish plates have many natural metal options. They are many options in chrome, brass, and copper. They also have square options, but square is definitely more maintenance forward than their round sibling. Building settling tend to knock the square out of alignment just enough for your eye to catch and drive you crazy. If you opt for square finish plates, the best process is to know at the time of construction. There are a lot of things we can do to make this as painless as possible, including using sprinkler heads that have a better square option.

This is the square option and this particular one is a custom color, it is not a natural metal option. Custom colors are an upgrade but certainly not cost prohibitive. Custom colors will not break your bank, but like everything else, they need to be planned because they take a pretty long time to get and they have to be factory done. You should discuss with us very early on if you want a custom color. People generally use these when they have square light fixtures.

This look is every labor intensive but it has its appeal. These are about one inch and have a very low profile, but doing this has a lot of disadvantages, one of which is that this configuration is generally not repairable.

If you look super close at this, you’ll see that this is an exposed copper line attached to the side of an exposed beam. This is an option for retrofits or if you want to have an industrial look. This house added track lighting in the location and basically made it a feature of the ceiling.

This is a custom color. They absolutely have their place.

This another very small head. Again, labor intensive but has their place

This is generally how these systems are installed. Often it is not possible to hide the heads, and just making sure that everything is symmetrical is the best option

There are aspects to the system that must be conspicuous, this is one of them. This is the part of the system that most people are irritated about. This is the Fire Department Connection, and it’s attached to some systems in order to let the fire department hook up their hoses, boosting the water supply, making their jobs safer. It is something that after the house is complete, no one even notices.

This is generally how unobtrusive some necessary aspects of a fire sprinkler system actually turn out.

The pipe above the ceilings is just as important as the parts of the system you actually see. If this is done wrong, then you can only cosmetically change a system. System that are installed correctly, are more viable, repairable, and add to the value of your house rather than diminish it.

From time to time we are asked to change out work from other companies. We do our best to make it as painless as possible, and have a few tricks to hold off drywall repairs

If you look closely at this, you’ll see a copper drop coming down from a wood ceiling that was designed to spray around the beams. This type of installation solved a lot of logistical problems that a heavy timbered ceiling has, one is that is blocking the sprinkler heads. The owner chose to go with this, and it absolutely added to the look of the house. This is not for everyone, but this one sprinkler head saved us from having to install eight other ones.

This was a repair. We generally can do most repairs without damage to your house. This is what the ceiling looked like right after we repaired the head. No big holes, no drywall repairs … no painting. This was a typical repair for a sprinkler head, in that the plastic above was cut out and replaced. Just for industry reference, sprinkler heads on CPVC systems don’t really leak because the heads aren’t tight, it is generally because the pipe has been compromised in some way. Often other companies will come out, clean out the cup and tighten the head, and it will seem fixed, but the head probably lets out such a small amount of liquid that all they really did was clean the container (finish plate) the liquid was accumulating in.

At the end of the day, besides the sprinkler system, the sprinkler riser is about the only exposed work the guys do. They take a lot of pictures of them, which I love. Every guy here takes the work they do personally, and it shows. The work they do is functional and looks pretty cool too.
